Voters in Line Waiting to Get IDed

The South Carolina State Election Commission can be classified as early adopters of technology.  South Carolina was the first state to have a statewide voter registration system, the first state to have its voter registration application on the Internet, and the second state to provide online access to its voter registration database to all county boards of voter registration.  So it’s no surprise that they turned to barcode scanners to help poll workers deal with long lines on election days.

Government ID scanning sounds simple but sometimes there can still be curveballs that come your way.  It turns out that South Carolina drivers licenses contained a little more data than most IDs and that caused problems when the SCSEC upgraded to barcode scanners.  That’s when they turned to RACO.  We were able to handle their unique barcode issue.

And we were able to do this all on schedule and within the budget.  Check out our case study below for more details.  And for more information on barcode solutions, contact a product specialist at 1-800-446-1991.
